Here at Jobhop we’ve used Hootsuite from day one, we would have a meltdown without it! 

I’ve spoken before about why we use Hootsuite and how we use it here at Jobhop and how job seekers could use Hootsuite to help them get a job , but today I’m going to write about the many ways you can use Hootsuite for social recruiting.

Social recruiting is big, using a dashboard like Hootsuite is only part of it, but you should find that it helps you manage your time more effectively which then allows you to concentrate on other areas of social recruiting. 

What ways can Hootsuite help, when it comes to social recruiting? 

Candidate management 

Being able to watch many conversations going on at once is why every social recruiter needs a dashboard like Hootsuite. Let’s take a recruiter who has to source for an array of digital jobs, a social media strategist, a community manager and perhaps a digital designer. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to split conversations about social media from the digital designing conversations? It would also be nice to have a few lists up at once, one list with all your potential social media stars in and the other with all your designers in it. All these chats you can monitor and join in with to build relationships. 

Scheduling 

Getting great content out to your audience is key, you want to attract more candidates, and you know that great snippets of information and knowledge will hook them. Scheduling can help you get that great information out at optimum times when you know your targeted candidates will be scrolling through the feed. As well as scheduling great snippets of info you’ve come across, schedule soundbites from your blog posts, driving candidates back to your website to read more. Scheduling isn’t just there for when you know you’re going to be out of the office for the day. Always remember never to get carried away with scheduling that you forget to engage, social recruiting is about being social, scheduling is just there to help you, it’s another tool in your social recruiting tool box. 

Posting

Another time saver for the busy social recruiter is the ability to post to many platforms at once. This function shouldn’t be abused because posting the same message to many different platforms could turn people off; engagement drops dramatically on some sites when this is done. It’s quite handy when you have to get a quick broadcast out or if your message suits a couple of your accounts. For example, we have @jobhop and @jobhopteam on Twitter, instead of posting to them independently, the one message may be appropriate for both accounts. 

Assigning 

Here at Jobhop, we have our niche specialities and we can assign job seekers questions to team members accordingly. Hootsuite gives you the ability to your team, therefore when a tricky question comes in from a candidate that you can’t answer you can quickly assign it over to a team member who can. 

Following events 

Whether you’re exhibiting at the coolest tech career event or not, with Hootsuite, you can effortlessly network before, during and after the event with all the attendees. Just set up a stream on Hootsuite with the event hashtag and there you have it, all the event chat before your very eyes while still being able to chat in other streams at other happening events!  

Watching competitors 

Never get too hung up on watching your competitors but if you must, Hootsuite makes it easy to do so. Just create a stream in the name of your competitor and now you can see what posts they put out and who they’re chatting with. 

Brand management 

This is important, who’s saying what about your brand? Whether it’s a positive comment or a negative comment you must act immediately. You should thank anyone who has something positive to say about you or your business. If anyone should say anything negative, you must deal with it in a professional manner and get it rectified. Your audience is watching, they will respect you if you can successfully turn a candidate’s negative experience into a positive one.
