We all now find ourselves working longer and harder for the same or less pay. Each time employers demanding more for less, not realising that to achieve that they are giving less to get more ... however they would never accept paying more to get less for their money year after year, which is something we all have to endure.
But that is not exactly my main gripe. My main concern is that we are following in the footsteps of America where we all have to smile and be happy at work, when we are being given unachievable targets and being constantly pressured to do more ...more ...more ...and is not even about pay as is not by getting more money that we reach an unachievable target, followed by management bullying of staff.

As result people are being ill more often and this time is not the conventional flu nor cold, but with stress and stress related illnesses, and at the same time we are again being squeezed to not have any time of sick as even there there are targets and rules etc, waving the disciplinary stick, and actually non existent carrot.
I am and always been a good worker and always worked to the best of my ability, being an easy going character I get along well with everyone, and never really encountered great problems working under pressure or in a target driven environment. The only time i have encountered problems is when those targets were unrealistic, and people took advantage of me being a compliant worker/friend.

I now have a different approach, I am 100% honest and always tell the truth. But I will not allow anymore people to take advantage of me nor being talked DOWN to, as at the end of the day yes there is hierarchy at work and I will promptly comply with however be unreasonable and all it boils down to is that both the manager (or whoever it may be) and I are humans at the same level and therefore respect is warranted from both sides.
And I feel more of UK population should follow this as we need to put our foot down to being treated like a kind or an inferior being to our superiors, because at the end of the day we are all humans and we all deserve mutual respect.
