Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Carly Newman about her job as Credit Control Manager at New Era Cap Company, how she got the job as well as a few other questions.

What is New Era Cap Company?

New Era Cap Company is located in Buffalo New York and is an American Headwear manufacturer. It was founded in 1920 and is the exclusive manufacturer for Major League Baseball, the official cap is worn by every Major League Baseball team. New Era Cap Company produces more than 35 million caps a year.

Before you started at New Era Cap Company what were you doing?

I was working for a company called Credit Security Ltd, this was a debt collection company.

How did you get your job at the New Era Cap Company?

I was contacted by their CEO, I went along for an interview and never looked back.

What is a typical day like for you?

Mayhem, exciting and always challenging.

Do you love what you do?

I love working at New Era Cap Company, especially in Finance, we cover a lot of aspects for the day to day running of the business.

Do you consider the company culture to be important?

Absolutely, it’s very important and as a company the culture here is amazing, we thrive off each other. What we love most is seeing people wearing our product, we all get a huge buzz from that.

What top tip would you give to someone wanting to do something similar?

Enjoy what you do, always be supportive as this will help other departments reach their goals which ends up benefitting everyone. Another tip would be to always work with people who are on the same mission.

It’s Facebook because all my friends are on there, it’s just a fun and easy way to keep in touch with everyone.
