Jobhop Jobhop's blog

It’s the time of the year again where we get to celebrate apprenticeships.

We get to celebrate the experience young people gain from being an apprentice as well as the energy, enthusiasm and a different perspective on things that businesses get from having an apprentice.

If you’re never quite sure when National Apprenticeship Week is then here’s a tip, it always follows National Careers Week.

Here at Jobhop we’re passionate about promoting digital apprenticeships, many young people still don’t know the vast number of digital jobs available to them, they’re surprised to find that they can get a digital apprenticeship, we want to let more know about the opportunities open to them.

We’ve had the privilege of working with 3AAA who have a digital apprenticeship academy and any young person looking to get a career in digital should give them a call

The training at 3AAA covers marketing with social media, collaboration tools, online advertising, web design and development, SEO, managing social media, content management, copywriting and so much more!

If you’re a young person thinking about a digital apprenticeship, you probably want to know what type of job you could get.

There are so many! Once you’ve done your apprenticeship you should be in demand; it ’s predicted that there will be over 1m digital job roles to fill in the UK by next year.

The types of jobs you could find yourself applying for could be:

Social Media Manager

Social Media Strategist

Community Manager

Web Designer

Web Developer

Online Advertising Executive

PPC Executive

SEO rockstar

Conversion Specialist

Web Analyst

Social Recruiter

Internal brand manager

Games Designer

Blogger

What if you’re a business thinking about taking on a digital apprentice, what are the benefits?

Giving a young person a chance to get a career is always great, but as well as that they can add value probably in ways you haven’t thought of.

Born digital

Young people are born digital, when it comes to technology, what takes someone from generation X and above, a day to fathom out, they’ll have it sussed in minutes!

Well connected

An average user on Facebook has roughly 300 friends, but when they’re born digital, connections rise to approximately 650. Remember that when your business is trying to get a marketing message out to the masses.

Energy

Your apprentice will arrive with a youthful energy; they haven't suffered the knock backs that older employees have, to them anything is possible. It’s good to be reminded of what is possible not on what could fail.

Agile

Young people are agile, they understand that change happens every day, they will be able to adapt to different situations quickly. Some employees are reluctant to change because that’s  how they’ve done it for years, younger people don’t think like that they expect change.

Ambitious

Not all young people are ambitious, but most of them have the gaming mindset, they’re constantly looking for the next level. Most online activities that the born digital participate in use a gamification process, which regularly gets them thinking about how to do more, achieve more, collect more, perfect more, that mindset can carry over into real life.

As well as the eagerness to learn and get experience having an apprentice could be an excellent move for many businesses.

Take time this week to think about apprenticeships or think about the benefits of getting an apprentice.
