The best thing about video is you can easily show off your skills. If you’re trying to get a job in sport, you can show off your skills as a running buddy, your ability to coach or whatever is needed for the role you're applying for. If you’re trying to become a journalist, you can show your interviewing skills. Video is better than a description on paper since the employer will see exactly what you bring to the table, how you can benefit him/her and emotionally connect with you.

Make an Impact

You’re already going to make an impact by doing something different but your video needs to pack some punch. Get some practise in so you don’t sound boring or stiff. Add your personality, while showing off your employability. Grab the employer’s attention and you will soon find yourself getting hired.

You can’t just upload the video to YouTube and end there. Yes, you may get a lot of hits but it will be difficult to get the right people seeing you without promotion. The more you promote, the more eyes your video will get seen by and the higher chance an employer will want to talk to you because of it.
