Have you had a Blab yet? Today was my first ever Jobhop Blab and for the first one I interviewed “The Queen of Blog” Sarah Arrow.
The interview starts with Sarah chatting about how in late 2006 the family business was suffering and her husband Kevin dramatically said if nothing was done in just six weeks they could go bust. Sarah got into blogging, she hadn’t a clue what to do and in those early days Sarah found it hard to put 50 words together, it took her 2.5 hours to complete 50 words! Sarah persisted though because she knew was that every 50 words could earn her 30p! Wow!
After a while it become clear that what she was doing was working, her husband (Kevin) informed her that their business was generating more money because of her blogging. Excited that things were looking up Sarah invested in a book from Amazon on how to blog and started doing more. Sarah’s journey into blogging is amazing and it shows us that sometimes the best things happen when we’re under pressure!
During the interview Sarah shares with us the best action to take when you want to start a blog, how to build your writing muscle, how to get your blog out there to employers and recruiters and why it’s also good to have a rest from blogging.
Sarah also talks about search engine optimisation (seo) and the best way to get good images for your blog.
At the end of the interview the blab was opened up for anyone to join in and ask Sarah questions and the wonderful Saul Fleischman, Lleane Smith and Ina J jumped in with some great questions and comments.
