You cannot afford to have a slap happy work environment anymore. When was the last time you updated training methods or revamped the office?

Job seekers flock to Glassdoor to read reviews from employees of past and present, they aim to get the real inside story of your company, if you’re saying one thing but your employees are saying another you’ll get found out on Glassdoor.

Glassdoor launched in 2008 and has helped to bring transparency to job seekers, so much so that a recent U.S poll by Software advice found that almost half of job seekers consult Glassdoor.

The survey was conducted with 4,633 U.S job seekers, these job seekers were using Glassdoor for their research before they thought about applying for a job.

Should you be concerned? If your promise to your employees doesn’t mean anything and your employer brand leaves a lot to be desired, then yes you should be concerned. All is not lost though because the poll found that fresh reviews ( less than six months ) have the greatest impact on perceptions of your company. This means that you can turn your employer brand into something you’re proud of, get new reviews and attract talent.

What was surprising from the poll was that only 15% of respondents said that “culture and values” were important when looking for a job, 30% said compensation and benefits were the most important. When you look at the age group of respondents though 64% were 45 plus and it’s usually the younger generation who put culture and values first.

There isn’t a U.K poll yet but I’m sure there will be one in the pipeline soon
