Here are some 7 simple steps to writing a blog to get a job
- Brainstorm... Think of as a many topics in your chosen field and think outside of the box for good eye catching titles
- Trends, gossip, industry mayhems …What has got everyone talking? How can you ride that wave? If you can tie a blog post in with something that is currently “hot” news then directing traffic & possible employers to your post becomes easier
- Have a list within your blog, this makes it easier to read as peoples eyes like to scroll down plus lists are good for seo
- Include link/links within your blog which could lead to earlier relevant posts or links to another site if it’s relevant in your job search.
- Always insert a picture and if you alt tag it then it helps seo but a picture also welcomes the eye onto the page, with so many visual people you have to make the post appealing.
- Before you click publish do a spelling and grammar check, remember potential employers could be looking at your posts, they will probably judge you if it’s riddled with spelling mistakes.
- Keep it up to date... Once you start you mustn’t stop if you do your community who arrive weekly to read your posts will go & read someone else’s & probably never come back to yours. That person may have been your potential employer who’d just started to take an interest in your posts, then you go and disappear.
Writing a blog takes commitment however if you do it well it could potentially open many doors for you.
