Their employer brand is so strong that you can see how they would never need to advertise for applicants, people are just queuing to get in
Why wouldn’t anyone want to get a job at Google?
The fantastically decorated work environment, the culture and the perks are amazing too! Great free meals, free haircuts, free beer, free gym to work off the free food, free bikes, cars and more! It is considered the best company to work for by Fortune magazine
But it’s not only the perks that make people want to work there our young generation want to work for companies that are changing the world! Google is definitely one of those companies.
It's not surprising to hear that school children talk about getting a job at Google!
They have a brilliant positive employer brand, it’s unique internship programme can take a lot of credit for that, everyone wants to be Googler!
There’s a very good interview in The New York Times Laszlo Bock, the senior vice president of people operations for Google, he says that “Good grades don’t hurt” but Google has its eyes on so much more.
Many jobs will require maths, coding and computer skills however Google are looking for a special type of person. That person must:
- Think on their own initiative
- Have learning ability
- Be emergent leaders
- Be innovators
- Be extrovert
- Be collaborative
To get found by a Google recruiter you must make sure you’re accessible and you’re attracting the recruiter with the right keywords.
If you get invited to an interview expect more than one. William Poundstone, the author of “Are you smart enough to work at Google” says that it’s normal to have five interviews unless it becomes apparent that you’re clearly unsuitable.
