Jobhop Jobhop's blog : Get A Dream Digital Job Working For The Queen
The Queen turned 90 this week, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to let her social media activity slip! In fact, it looks like she’ll be stepping social up a notch or two by hiring a Head of Digital Engagement.
Buckingham Palace is looking for someone to lead their digital media team, who can continuously improve their digital presence and strategically drive traffic to their newly launched website.
It sounds exciting doesn’t it.
The @BritishMonarchy Twitter account has 2.19million followers, just think about that for a moment, you will be responsible for keeping these very loyal fans happy. The British Monarchy Facebook page boasts 2,944,475 people liking it, and their Instagram account has 361,000 followers, that’s a lot of people who will see your posts.
If you’re someone who’s interested in being Head of Digital Engagement for the Queen, then your head must be bursting right now with ideas!
Internal Branding
Getting behind the scenes and giving true fans exclusive access to what goes on in Buckingham Palace, not the regular press releases, but real everyday stuff:
Does the Queen wear slippers around the Palace?
Is there a BBQ in the garden?
Who comes over for Sunday lunch?
Doggy Royalty
Sometimes the Queen gets all the attention when actually, the superstars are her beloved Corgis and Dorgis, let’s see more of them.
Perhaps the royal Corgis and Dorgis should have their own Twitter account, where dog lovers around the world could keep up with their adventures, it’s always good to see the world through the eyes of a Corgi or even a Dorgi. I can see them bringing out their own Dorgi Royal merchandise!
Social Recruiting
Just think about how many employees the British Monarchy employ, I’m sure you’re thinking what I’m thinking, yes, cut the recruitment cost by tapping into social media to attract and source employees. On the Royal website, it says that their employee opinion survey states that over 95% of people state that they feel proud to work for the Royal Household, this is great content bait to attract future employees.
As well as all the brilliant new ideas you’ll bring to the team the job description says you’ll be covering state visits, award ceremonies, and royal engagements.
It also says that as well as exemplary and compelling writing and editorial skills, you should have an understanding of HTML and analytical tools.
This is an amazing opportunity and as the job description says,
“It's knowing your content will be viewed by millions” What a buzz!
