It's Bring Your Dog To Work Day!

Friday the 24th June is the day for all dogs to put on their best attire and join their human mummy or daddy in the work environment.

Dogs all over the UK constantly wonder what happens when their human parent walk out the front door muttering the words “See you when I get back from work.”  They need not wonder anymore because every year there’s now an official Bring Your Dog To Work Day and “well behaved” pooches will see where humans go and what they get up to every day. It’s a great way to get dogs appreciating the hard work us humans have to do so pooches can eat the best biscuits and play with the best tug toys! The great thing is that any pooch going to work with their human parent for the day will be helping other dogs less fortunate than themselves as the event raises for charities which make a difference for dogs. The other benefit is that dogs in the workplace bring down stress levels, making the environment much calmer and happier. Did you know that dogs in the workplace help everyone to be more productive! It's true, we wrote about it here.

Bring Your Dog To Work Day  is organised by HOWND

This year all proceeds go to All Dogs Matter, a charity which re-homes hundreds of dogs every year in London and Norfolk. Here at Jobhop we are massive pooch fans and being based in London and Norfolk makes the event extra special for us. Josie, the resident hound, has even modelled for Jobhop in the past, in our quest to make employment human!

  • If Bring Your Dog To Work Day is a first for you and your dog, then here are a few tips to ease her or him into your work-life.
  • Take one of their blankets with you; it will act as a comfort blanket in case the environment is a bit overwhelming.
  • Take a dog bowl in for water
  • Feed little & often, big amounts might upset their belly, especially if they’re excited already
  • Take a dog cage if your dog is excitable or nervous
  • Take in toys but not squeaky ones. Otherwise, your work colleagues may end up banishing you to the dog house!
  • Walk regularly during the day for tiddles
  • DO NOT “just put them in the car”, especially if it’s a warm/hot day
  • Brush up on basic commands
  • Remember the poo bags
  • Make sure they look extra cute on the day, just to melt everyone's hearts
