Jobhop Jobhop's blog : Try Weheartit For Young Digital Candidates

Jobhop Jobhop's blog

Weheartit is a platform where beautiful visuals are shared, quite similar to Pinterest.

The funny thing is it was launched 2 years before Pinterest but has kind of been in it's shadows. It has grown at a much slower pace than Pinterest but it really seems to be gaining momentum right now.

The Weheartit  audience is younger and would be quite similar to a Tumblr audience, 80% of the users are under the age of 24 and 50% of users are in their teens. Just like on Pinterest though there is a high number of female users, 80% are female on Pinterest and 70% are female on Weheartit.

If you're an employer looking for Young designers, photographers, web developers, content specialists, fashion and beauty bloggers for the present or for the future, then Weheartit could be a network for you to tap into.

Because Weheartit prompts you to upload and search for inspiring pictures, the platform tends to attract a real positive, life loving crowd, none of your doom and gloom Facebook posts on here!

As an employer what would be your next steps?

Set up your account on Weheartit, just like youwould with many of the social media platforms, sign up with Facebook, Twitter or Google+ If you’re an employer of a certain age and would rather sign up with your email address you can do that too.

Like many of the platforms you will be prompted to follow people and of course you can invite you connections from other social media platforms to come and join you on Weheartit.

As an employer you will want to attract your ideal candidate so make sure you get good "candidate attracting keywords" into your Bio. Similar to pin boards on Pinterest at Weheartit you get a canvass to add your images to, add inspiring pictures which could hook your ideal candidate. Just like Pinterest where you can have many pin boards, on Weheartit it’s the same, you can have many canvasses.

Create canvasses for the candidate you want to attract to your company.

  • Have a canvass with inspiring quotes, this type of canvass would attract a positive, motivated person.
  • A canvass with beautiful pictures of the location of the company would attract local candidates or candidates wanting to re-locate there.
  • If you’re a fashion company, then a canvass of high street fashion would attract fashionista candidates, the same goes with hair design, interior design or any food business.

You get the picture, like attracts like, you have to know how to attract your ideal candidate.

The next step would be to source your candidate, the best place to start with sourcing on Weheartit  is at the search bar. Put the word photographer into the search bar it returns results of many different types of photographers that you can follow, the same  goes with web developers.

Like any of the social networking platforms, being social and networking is what it’s about, so follow interesting people, “Heart” their posts, create collections and add their posts to them. Many employers and recruiters forget all about "social" when it comes to social recruiting, my word of advice is practise very hard at being social especially on platforms like Weheartit.

Remember if you want younger candidates to work at your company then you’ll need to hang out where they are and that could be on WeheartIt.

JOIN Jobhop and spread the word.
